Lead to Feed Project Led by Amelia Remmen

January 26, 2024

One of Air Base K-8 Center's Upper Academy's students has continued to drive a service project initiative that has demonstrated her perseverance and dedication.  Lead to Feed is a project created by her older sister, Claire in the Spring of 2019.  Amelia, a National Junior Honor Society member, has dedicated herself to ensure the project's longevity and sustainability.  The project's mission is to help reduce the cost of feeding dogs in a local rescue facilities by selling original hand woven paracord dog leashes and donating the profits to these facilities. Today, Amelia's project continues to thrive and make immense progress.  Donations to date include:

  • $500 to Paws 4 U in addition to $100 worth of made leads for them to sell.

  • $500 to This is the Dog in addition to $500 worth of made leads for them to sell.

  • $300 worth of made leads for Buddies for Bullies, a bulldog rescue.  These were donated for them to auction.

  • $550 to Expressions Dance Company

Note: This year we have amassed an additional $500 that we would like to donate to a worthwhile organization wanting to share our goals and vision.

Remmen's vision lives on as she has seen the impact it has made and hopes to expand the project's efforts and outreach in the South Florida community.  "Lead to Feed is an incredible project that is built with hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication. I hope to see it expand its goals to reducing the stray dog population in South Florida as well as our community outreach.  With our Air Base team, I see great success on the horizon", says Amelia.
